How to print black & white on the Color printer
 for 5 cents/page

If at some point the lab black and white printer is not working, you can use the color printer.

To print at the black & white price of 5 cents/page, you have to force it to print in "greyscale":

Do File > Print and choose the DickeyLab_Color printer, then click "Properties". Select the "Color"  tab and near the bottom of the window is a gray scale option. Check that box and print.

How to select Classroom Printers

When you log on to Aristipus with a Schreiner student logon, you automatically get the standard profile that includes all the network printers: Computer Lab--Dickey Hall 112 (default printer), W007, CH116, and CH117 no matter whether you are actually in the lab or in a computer classroom. Because the lab printer is the default, If you are printing in a classroom, you must select the printer in your room in the print dialog:

  • Use File > Print (not the print icon)
  • At the top of the resulting print dialog window, use the little triangle to drop down a list of available printers:
    • W007_HP4000 is the black and white printer in W007
    • W007_Color_HP4500 is the color printer in W007
    • kcch116_lj4200 is the black and white printer in CH116
    • kcch117_lj4200 is the black and white printer in CH117
    • Lab_HP4000 is the black and white printer in Dickey 112 comp lab
    • Lab_Color_HP4500 is the color printer in Dickey 112 comp lab
  • Click the printer you need, and once it shows by itself in the top box, you can complete the print job.

That's it!

When the pop-up appears to ask for your password, notice whether it shows you printing to the correct printer. If, not, you need to cancel the print job and go back through the steps above.
