Save your files in your personal folder (H:
drive) on Aristipus
CAUTION: Be sure you see the H: or the
"on Aristipus", because these identify the permanent folder on the server.
When you log on there is a local folder created with your username, but it
gets deleted when you log off. Saving things in that folder can cause many
tears to flow.
You should save to your personal
folder (and maybe to a floppy, too, for
backup) Files saved to the desktop or
other locations on the local computer will not be kept.

Basic Information
You have a folder on our ACADEMIC domain server ("Aristipus"). It
is available to you when you are logged into any computer in the
computer lab or computer classrooms ( W007, CH116, CH117, CH213).
You can create sub-folders within it, save, move, delete files,
etc.
It is mapped as the "H:" drive when you logon, and is called
something like <username> on aristipus/users. Be sure you
see the H: or "Aristipus", as insurance that you have not mistakenly
gotten the local folder tagged with your username, because it
will be deleted when you log off.
To access your personal folder, you must already be logged on
using your own username and password. To protect your files, it is
important to log off before you leave the computer.
