Printing from Adobe Reader - The secret is to "Print as Image" ,usually found in the Print Dialogue box.
Printer paper jams - Read the instructions in the window on the printer. If it keeps happening, put paper in the upper tray to feed through.
No pop-up or something won't print -
When the user sends a print job, it is automatically paused. Then the pop-up should appear on their screen and allow them to enter their password and click "Print it". If this is successful, the job is taken off pause and is printed.
If it does not print, here are some possible causes -- find solutions below:
no paper, or printer off line
job sent to wrong printer
no pop-up
not enough balance to cover the job
printer itself is paused -- you can't fix this yourself, but it is unlikely to occur
If the job does not print:
If there was no Pop-up, it will not print -- to fix it, see below.
Check that the printer is on line and has paper.
Click File > Print
Make sure the correct printer is selected.
When the Pop-up appears, check their account balance to see if there is enough for the job. If they put in their password and click "Print It" but their balance is not enough to cover the job, the job will remain "on pause" for a while and then be automatically deleted.
If there is no Pop-up:
On their computer, check to see if the green pyramid is in the system tray.
If it is not, from the Start button, go to All Programs > Startup > Pop-up. This will put it there.
If the pyramid is in the tray and they have not gotten the pop-up, exit the pop-up and restart it:
In the tray, right-click the green pyramid and choose "exit".
From the Start button, go to All Programs > Startup > PPopup.
This should make the pyramid reappear in the tray. Wait about 10 seconds to see if the pop-up window appears asking for a password to print. If not, go back into the document they are trying to print, and try a new "Print" command of the document.
When you see the Pop-up, check to see if they have enough in their account to do the job. If not, they must put money on their account at the Library Circulation Desk or wait to give it to Searle or Claire in the Computer Lab.
Scanning -- Use different procedures to get an image file (use a "picture" for anything) vs. converting printed material to text to use in MS Word.
