ATTENTION !!

Everyone needs to see me about your work schedule during final exams for test conflicts.

Thursday, Dec. 11 is Reading Day.  Even though there are no classes, you are expected to work you scheduled shift.

Attention:  Be sure that you answer the telephone when you are on duty and Searle and I are not at our desks.  If you often wear the headsets while on duty, be sure you can hear things that are going on in the room also, including the telephone ringing.  Answer it with "Computer lab work study, can I help you?" or something similar.  The person on the phone might be Searle or me trying to get in touch with you.  Thank you.

Hints for being an outstanding lab workstudy student

  • Be punctual and responsible for your shift
  • If you wish to trade shifts with another worker, let supervisor know
  • Take responsibility for helping students
  • Learn the programs and how to help
  • Be the first line of help before students come to Searle or Claire.
  • Sit in a position where you can see the whole lab and don't be so deeply into your own work or play that you don't notice students needing help.
  • If Searle or Claire are putting paper in a printer, they will also be wondering why you haven't already seen to it.
  • Take responsibility for straightening up the Lab: chairs, stray papers, etc.
