How to Prepare Your Computer:
"Safety First" on the Student Network
at Schreiner University

If you already know what version of Windows you have,
you can choose your version:
 Windows XP -- "How To" for Safety First on the Student Network
Windows 2000 & NT -- "How To" for Safety First on the Student Network
Win 95, 98, ME -- "How To" for Safety First on the Student Network

Or if you don't know
what version of Windows you have,
here's how to find out:

 

  • Click the "Start" button
  • Click "Run"
  • Type "winver" (without the quotes)
  • See a box with the Windows version information--write it down.
  • Click "OK"
Hints:
  •  "Right-click" means to click the right mouse button.
  • "Click" means click the left mouse button.
  • About "check boxes": To remove a check already in a box, or put a check in an empty box, you click the box.
